Federal Stimulus Funds
The federal government has passed several laws in recent years to address the economic and health consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. Two of these laws allocated aid to school districts. Namely, the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act and the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act. Outlined below are the anticipated allocations to be received by the Edgemont Union Free School District as well as a proposed spending plan for these funds.
American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act
Edgemont received $386,644 in revenues from the ARP Act. These funds must be spent by the end of the 2023-2024 school year. Of these funds, $77,677 was required to be targeted to evidence-based interventions to address learning loss. To date, Edgemont has spent $76,729 in this area, including providing summer enrichment opportunities for English language learners, summer credit recovery programs for students not meeting state and local standards at the junior and senior high school level, and the addition of a second elementary math interventionalist. The balance of the funds targeted for these specific areas will be spent in the 2022-2023 school year to support the continuation of the elementary math interventionalist.
The remaining funds ($300,710) may be used for a wide range of activities to address needs arising from the coronavirus pandemic. The District has not changed it's original plans for the use of these funds and intends on spending $20,000 to support academic intervention consultant work, and $286,710 to supplement the funding necessary to replace the HVAC system in the Resource Building on the Junior/Senior High School Campus, improving the air quality in a highly-utilized building.
Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA)
Edgemont received $170,708 which must be spent by the end of the 2022-2023 school year. The plan for the use of these funds has not changed and the district intends to utilize the whole balance to supplement the funding necessary to replace the HVAC system in the Resource Building on the Junior/Senior High School Campus, improving the air quality in a highly-utilized building.
