Pre-Kindergarten Information
Preliminary Applications for Edgemont's 2026-2027 Pre-Kindergarten Program
It is anticipated that Edgemont will partner with at least one local childcare center to offer a limited number of full-day Pre-Kindergarten seats for the 2026-2027 school year. If so, the opportunity would be made possible through New York State's Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) grant program.
The District has published a Request for Proposals (RFP) from local childcare centers for the 2026-2027 school year. Although a location has not yet been established for the upcoming year, we have begun collecting applications from prospective students.
The program will follow the 2026-2027 Edgemont school calendar and operate from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on school days. The instructional portion of the program, which is subsidized by state funds, is free to families.
To be considered for this opportunity, families must complete the Preliminary Application Form or contact District Registrar Mimi Southard at (914) 472-7767 ext. 4431 or msouthard@edgemont.org by Sunday, March 15, 2026. Completing this preliminary application does not guarantee a seat in the program or commit you to participation. All preliminary applications will be reviewed after the submission deadline, and further details will be shared with families who have applied.
Access Application Here. It must be completed by march 15, 2026.
Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:
- The child must reside within the Edgemont UFSD boundaries.
- The child must turn four (4) years old by December 31, 2026.
If the number of applicants exceeds the number of available seats, the District will conduct a random selection process, as required by the NYS Education Department.
